Ford Shelby GR-1 Coupe

Superperformance Ford Shelby GR-1 Coupe

In 2005, Ford debuted the GR-1 at the North American International Auto Show. A spiritual successor to the Shelby Daytona coupe, the GR-1 was part of Ford's push for a retro supercar that also saw the Ford Shelby Cobra concept in 2004 and culminated in the legendary Ford GT that entered production the same year. 14 years later, the Ford has announced that the GR-1 is going to be built thanks to a licensing deal with Superperformance, a company that makes officially licensed Cobra and GT40 replicas. The original GR-1 concept packed a 6.4 liter, 600 horsepower V10, and Ford says that both ICE and electric versions will be produced, along with a special edition closely based on the 2005 concept. Ford said that production will be limited to about 200 units, and like the new GT, will go fast to a very exclusive group of buyers.

Vintage SUVs: The New Status Symbol

Looking for a brawny SUV that’s oozing with style?

Try a lovingly restored Ford Bronco, Land Rover, IH Scout or Jeep Wagoneer from the 1960s or 1970s

By: Jonathan Welsh

"LAST SUMMER, artist Sal Taylor Kydd and her entrepreneur husband, Steven, were looking for a sport-utility vehicle to replace their aging Volvo station wagon. The latest from Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen felt too common. But they spotted something that might work on a twisty road in Penobscot, Maine: a 1972 Chevy Suburban......"

Husqvarna Vitpilen 125

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 125 May Be The Closest Thing To The Scrambler Grom We Want

Just a concept for now. Lets hope this happens.

KTM has confirmed this Vitpilen 125 will be released alongside the 401 next year. Not as if we really need a good reason to post pics of the Vitpilen 401 again, but Husqvarna has yet to give us a glimpse at the 125 so that’s all we’re left with for now.
It continues to be interesting to see how Husqvarna will differentiate itself from KTM. As of now, they’ve released a number of concepts all using the same style and KTM’s motors, which makes me wonder if they will continue to do the same with KTM’s other motors or begin to push in a different direction. With Indian and Victory starting to create their own identities under Polaris, it’s a strange time for brands like these.

Sweet baby Jesus, I hopes this means we’ll see the Vitpilen 701 see production. Or at least be the kick in the pants Honda needs to make that scrambler Grom they teased us with.

See the rest of the bikes released with our EICMA 2015 coverage here.

"This single seater concept by Mehmet Doruk Erdem is called Spirito for Alfa Romeo. Made for speed, the sleek Spirito is a perfect balance between classic and futuristic design. The elongated design is meant to slice wind with a single large wheel propelling it forward from the back."

Mercedes G4

Aside form the Nazi ties. This is one incredibly cool looking vehicle.

Only 57 were ever made and only 3 are know to still excist.

The G4 was a development of the G1, launched in 1926. All had an 8-cylinder inline engine, in the first three years of 5018 cc (306.2 cu in) displacement delivering 100 PS (74 kW). An unsynchronized four-speed transmission transferred the power to all four rear wheels, or optionally to all six wheels. The rear wheels were attached to two rigid axles 950 mm apart, which were suspended in joint semi-elliptic leaf springs. The front axle was rigid with semi-elliptic springs. All six wheels had hydraulic brakes with servo assistance. The top speed was only 67 km/h (42 mph), limited by the type of all-terrain tyres. Only 11 of these vehicles were delivered to the Wehrmacht. The car used an elongated box-section frame that allowed for generous interior room. Comfortable seating for up to seven was provided by benches (front and rear) and one middle row of two with separate arm rests.

Nazi's are bad.....

How do you transport your racecar?

Landy Like Around the World

If mountain bikers use saws and other tools, it's often to create wood features in the forest. Julia Hofmann used them for a different reason, though: to finish her bachelor thesis. No, she didn't assemble a series of wooden jumps and drops for school, but rather transformed a Series 2A Land Rover into her travelling bike caravan. Simply put, the German racer built her own dream vehicle, a two-wheeler's four-wheeler that she'll use to get to riding spots the world over. Below, she tells us the story of how it all came together.
