The farmer claimed the woman was not a woman at all

Click on the picture, it gets bigger.

Charlie Noonan was an amateur folklorist who travelled throughout the South and Southwestern United States during the early years of the 20th century, collecting tall tales and stories of the supernatural. According to his wife, Ellie, Charlie was told a story one day by an Oklahoma farmer about a strange woman who lived alone on an isolated property in the panhandle.
The farmer claimed the woman was not a woman at all, but something else, something that hid its true nature beneath a headscarf and was never seen without a large dog by its side. Noonan was apparently intrigued enough to try searching for the woman during one of his research road trips. He was never seen again.

Ellie Noonan was later contacted by a Tulsa pawnbroker who remembered reading about her husband’s disappearance in the papers, after finding his name engraved on a camera sold to him by an itinerant. The pawnbroker returned the camera, and Mrs. Noonan had the film inside developed in the hopes of finding a clue as to his whereabouts. This was the only photo on the roll. Unfortunately, neither the location of the property, nor the name of the farmer who told him the story was recorded in Noonan’s notes.

Husqvarna Vitpilen 125

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 125 May Be The Closest Thing To The Scrambler Grom We Want

Just a concept for now. Lets hope this happens.

KTM has confirmed this Vitpilen 125 will be released alongside the 401 next year. Not as if we really need a good reason to post pics of the Vitpilen 401 again, but Husqvarna has yet to give us a glimpse at the 125 so that’s all we’re left with for now.
It continues to be interesting to see how Husqvarna will differentiate itself from KTM. As of now, they’ve released a number of concepts all using the same style and KTM’s motors, which makes me wonder if they will continue to do the same with KTM’s other motors or begin to push in a different direction. With Indian and Victory starting to create their own identities under Polaris, it’s a strange time for brands like these.

Sweet baby Jesus, I hopes this means we’ll see the Vitpilen 701 see production. Or at least be the kick in the pants Honda needs to make that scrambler Grom they teased us with.

See the rest of the bikes released with our EICMA 2015 coverage here.

LEARN MORSE CODE in one minute !

This is a code listening tool. Print it on your printer.
Place your pencil where it says START and listen to morse code.
Move down and to the right every time you hear a DIT (a dot).
Move down and to the left every time you hear a DAH (a dash).
Here's an example: You hear DAH DIT DIT which is a dash then dot then dot.
You start at START and hear a DAH then move down and left to the T and then you hear a DIT so you move down and RIGHT to the N and then you hear another DIT so you move DOWN and RIGHT again and land on the D
You then write down the letter D on your code copy paper and jump back to START waiting for your next letter.
The key to learning the code is hearing it and comprehending it while you hear it.
The only way to get there is to practice 10 minutes a day.
Listen to code tapes or computer practice code while tracing out this chart and you will find yourself writing down the letters in no time at all without the aid of the chart.
The chart brings repetition together with recognition, which you don't get from any other type of code practice aid.

The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows

The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows is a compendium of invented words written by John Koenig. Each original definition aims to fill a hole in the language—to give a name to emotions we all might experience but don’t yet have a word for.

Aliens on Earth

Deep Sea Alien Creatures. Around a mile and a half down into the ocean you can find some strange looking creatures. This unknown squid has only been filmed a dozen or so times and has not been positively identified yet. The mysterious creature is being called a Long Arm Squid and could possibly be part of the Big Fin squid family (Magnapinnidae).

There is a Magical Little Town in Holland Where the Streets Are Made of Water

Giethoorn, Netherlands
"There are places in this world that are so surreal and beautiful that when you first see photos of them you naturally assume they must be from a movie set. But while the tiny town of Giethoorn in northern Holland may look like it was built for a film based on a children's fairytale, this enchanted neighborhood that's built upon a network of narrow canals is actually completely real."

Mesdag's in Walmart?

Say it ain't so...?

Is this a bad thing?...Does it cheapen the Mesdag brand?.....or is it just a funny way to acknowledge success that a painting (print) from one man over 100 years ago, from one of the tiniest countries in the WORLD is selling at the Largest Retailer in the world.

They do sell prints by: Picaso, Van Gough, Monet, Da Vinci, Dali, Rembrandt, Vermeer, and now Mesdag

Two prints available.

Watch The 720-Ton Ball Damper Swinging At The Top Of The Taipei 101 Skyscraper During A Typhoon

ball-damper-swinging.gif

Taipei 101 is the tallest Building in Taiwan and was the tallest in the world from 2004 to 2010.
It is now the 4th tallest.
There is a 660-tonne (728-short-ton) tuned mass damper that stabilizes the tower against movements caused by high winds. The damper can reduce up to 40 percent of the tower's movements. The observatories are located in the 91st and 89th floors.
It was perfectly still when I got to see it. It is so large that it is hard to imagine that it moves like this.
