Ford Shelby GR-1 Coupe

Superperformance Ford Shelby GR-1 Coupe

In 2005, Ford debuted the GR-1 at the North American International Auto Show. A spiritual successor to the Shelby Daytona coupe, the GR-1 was part of Ford's push for a retro supercar that also saw the Ford Shelby Cobra concept in 2004 and culminated in the legendary Ford GT that entered production the same year. 14 years later, the Ford has announced that the GR-1 is going to be built thanks to a licensing deal with Superperformance, a company that makes officially licensed Cobra and GT40 replicas. The original GR-1 concept packed a 6.4 liter, 600 horsepower V10, and Ford says that both ICE and electric versions will be produced, along with a special edition closely based on the 2005 concept. Ford said that production will be limited to about 200 units, and like the new GT, will go fast to a very exclusive group of buyers.
