The 88-inch Land Rover is considered a design icon due to the skillful application of the “principle of thirds” and is regarded one of the greatest motor vehicles ever produced. Owen Mesdag is the kind of guy who can’t help but improve everything around him. He designed an early waterproof “gadget bag” for the first generation iPhone—before it even hit the market—and it was so successful that Amazon brought on Kindle-specific versions, and Cascade Designs spun it off into its own brand [E-Case, now part of SealLine]. “Owen is a tinkerer,” says Joe Mc Swiney, CEO of SOG and former Cascade Designs president. “He’s looking at everything around him all the time and he’s thinking, ‘How can I do this differently, what’s a better way to do this?’” Among his other successes? Halving the weight of the MSR Gravity Works filter by replacing protective rubber with lightweight foam, lightening the Basecamp Snow Shelter Saw by ditching the plastic handle, and using fabric panels in place of metal on the Snow Fluke anchor.

The first Land Rover launches at Amsterdam Motor Show -1948

On April 30, 1948, famed British off-road brand Land Rover first came into being. To celebrate the company’s birthday, they’ve shared a terrific gallery of historic images which capture scenes of these rugged and versatile vehicles helping people achieve great things.

Old Warehouse cart becomes new coffee table.

I bought this old Warehouse cart from a homeless person i met in an alley i usually drive home through. We were both happy with the transaction. It was super heavy, but we were able to get into the back of Sarge*. I thought it would be a cool coffee table. But it turned out to be WAY too big and was in pretty bad shape and then I wasn't sure what i was going to do with it.

Several months later and now with time on my hands, I decided to do something.
